Planning, Supplying, and Building Asia's Recreational Infrastructure
Seara builds new international standard sports facilities and reconditions old and substandard ones.
People's interest and participation in recreational activity is directly related to household income. In the developing economies of the Mekong basin this means that major recreational infrastrucure, particularly track and field and indoor gymnasium's are usually initiated by the public sector. Seara works with governmental bodies to match specifications, standards, and cost to appropriate usage. For example schools do not require IAAF Certified olympic standard running tracks.
In the private sector Seara works with property developers, hotels, resorts, private schools, and clubs in planning and building new recreational amenities and the reconditioning of substandard ones.
TennisSeara is the leading builder and resurfacer of ITF and Asian tennis federation approved tennis facilities. Seara also builds and maintains acrylic hardcourt, artificial grass, and European red clay courts at hotels, resorts, clubs, and property developments.
The most important element in a new tennis facility is the quality of the sub base beneath the playing surface. For this reason Seara prefers to build new tennis on a turn key basis so that we can control the specifications and quality of the sub base.
Resurfacing of tennis courts in Thailand for example relatively more expensive than elsewhere because 90% of all tennis courts in Thailand are improperly built on a concrete sub base without correct drainage. The sub base problem is compounded by the application of a playing surface in two parts. First the concrete is covered by a mixture of roofing tar and cement called "mastic". The visible playing surface is then applied using a "tennis surface" marketed by a local oil company. This two step petroleum based surface is quickly dried by the sun producing cracks through shrinkage. Water enters these cracks and spreads laterally beneath the surface. During sunlight hours the moisture becomes superheated lifting the entire surface and making things worse. The average life of these petroleum based courts are six to twelve months.
For players, the typical petroleum surface tennis court provides no enjoyment as the court quickly loses its original colour to fading because the surface material has no UV light inhi
bitors. The court is slippery to the point of being dangerous. Ball play characteristics is fast with the ball tending to skip rather than grip the surface or bounce. Players do not get the opportunity effectively use top spin, slice, drop shots, kick serves, etc.
Resurfacing the typical thick coated petroleum based tennis surface usually requires one of two solutions: Laying a new asphaltic sub base on top of the old surface and then applying a new thin coat technology, multi layer, acrylic latex hard court tennis surfacing system, or, leveling the old surface and carpeting it with a sand filled synthetic grass tennis court surface. Seara specializes in both.
